Water Treatment, W. Africa
An oil & gas multinational required a 'clean-slate' approach to treating drinking water at its sites. Many sources did not meet WHO guidelines due to acidity, iron and other contaminants; and existing plant varied greatly in efficacy and state of maintenance. Perspekt investigated ten sites, making detailed recommendations for new plant based on common principles and undertaking detailed design of four plants.
Processing of Safety Equipment, UK
A major UK logistics company was charged with safely decommissioning fire extinguishers for disposal or refilling. Hazards from corroded or abused units led to a contract to investigate automation of this hitherto largely manual process. Perspekt arrived at automated regimes for handling liquid, powder and gas extinguishers rapidly and with safety-critical steps entirely hands-off. Our solutions, described by the client as 'novel and detailed' brought together expertise in process analysis, the behaviour of powdery, liquid and gaseous materials, and mechanical engineering ingenuity.
Tower Extractor Troubleshooting, US/Middle East
A large tower liquid-liquid extractor at an oil refinery was underperforming due to cost-cutting measures at installation. Perspekt used Aspentech software to understand the crucial issue of droplet size to arrive at optimum mixing conditions.
Food Processing, Panama
A grower of exotic fruit for the 'nutraceuticals' and healthfood markets used Perspekt expertise to select hygienic food processing equipment and procedures. Perspekt has also prepared submissions to food safety regulators in the UK and Germany to ensure that client's products can be marketted within the EU.
Gold Ore Processing, Nevada, US
Perspekt prepared conceptual pilot- and full-scale processes for gold processing from a low-grade ore, working from a laboratory method. Process steps included grinding, digestion, separation, solvent extraction and electrowinning.
